Meet Me at the Carnegie!

Welcome to the Snohomish Carnegie Educational Center, A Place for Families.

The Snohomish Carnegie Educational Center operates in one of Washington State's last-remaining historic Carnegie libraries. The library's original construction represents the efforts of Snohomish's early residents and the Carnegie Foundation, which funded libraries throughout the country from 1886 to 1923.  The building is located within the Snohomish City National Register Historic District.

The design, includes beautiful grounds surrounding the Carnegie Building with an additional 20 parking spaces to support events at the Carnegie and the Downtown Historic area. The space will include a small outdoor stage for musical and theatrical performances and expansive green spaces with a gazebo for visitors to sit and enjoy their deli lunch, coffee, ice cream, etc. Because the site will host and celebrate multiple uses, the Snohomish Carnegie Foundation will create partnerships to develop and maintain this area through garden clubs, art groups, performing art groups, historic preservation groups, etc. These partnerships would supplement our existing established partnership with the Snohomish School District and Snohomish Library.

Imagine being in Snohomish; heading downtown to grab a lunch to go and then walking over to the Carnegie and sitting on the grass or a park bench to listen to a jazz band at lunch time. Or imagine a Saturday afternoon - you take your children or grandchildren to the Science exhibit at the Carnegie and sit in the park surrounding the Carnegie and have a picnic lunch. Or imagine a Saturday evening - you come downtown and have dinner at any one of our fine downtown dining restaurants then you walk over to the Carnegie to watch a theatrical performance on our stage. The number of imagine scenarios are limited only by our imagination.

The Snohomish Carnegie Educational Center is located at 105 Cedar Avenue, Snohomish, WA 98290.
